This legendary triplane was flown during the First World War by the famous Manfred von Richthofen. The aircraft's triplane design provided superior manoeuvrability, which was crucial in First World War aerial combat. Because of the triplane's crimson-red colour, Richthofen was called the "Red Devil" by the French. After the war this nickname evolved into "Red Baron".
