PIRATES AND BUCCANEERS

During the 17th and 18th centuries, the gradual decline and eventual disappearance of piracy gave rise to legends of hidden treasure and great adventures at sea. Pirates and buccaneers were remembered as the kings of the seas.
They operated mainly in the Caribbean along the trade routes between America and Europe.
Pirates boarded merchant ships and raided coastal settlements, while buccaneers captured smaller merchant vessels and were involved in smuggling and the slave trade.

The Buccaneer model represents one of the ships used for privateering at that time. This model lets you explore one of the darker chapters of maritime history while enjoying the craft of ship modelling.
