This is an Model in 1:35 scale of the schooner Vega of Gamleby. The ship was build in 1909 in Viken and sailed until the early 1930´s in the Baltic Sea as a pure sailing cargo ship. in 1932 it recived it´s first engine and it continued to trafic the Baltic sea and the west coast of sweden until the mid 1960´s when vega was sold to owners in Stockolm and taken out of Traffic. Vega sank in the Harbour of Stockolm in 1985 and was salvaged and given to the swedisch national museum for preservation, The museum finaly donated Vega to the current owners, Stiftelsen Människan och Havet, and they have now restored her to her former glory. Vega is sailing every summer ahd has been one of the pasrticipants in the Tall Ships race several times. More info about the Schooner Vega can be found at skonarenvega.se

This is a scale model of the company Gripsholm-Mariefred Ängfartygs AB´s steamship s/s Mariefried. The Ship is special, and probably the only one in the world, since it still travels the same trade between Stokholm and Mariefred and is powered by the same steamengine as it did when it was built in 1903. The kit is based on the original version of the ship, it has over time been modified and rebuilt (due to at least 2 fires) several times. In the summertime a trip on s/s Mariefred is a very popular day excursion that is highly recommended. Read more about the ships history on internet at www.mariefred.info.
